Dr. Ziya’s COVID-19 Prevention Protocol

My healthcare strategy is always to use the least amount intervention, first… natural, holistic methods like acupuncture, nutraceuticals, lifestyle, nutrition, etc. should be employed to gently nudge the body back into balance. As neither a vaccine nor an established treatment protocol is currently available, I have crafted the following in consideration of prevention and treatment of COVID 19.

Vitamin D:

Evidence suggests vitamin D supplementation may prevent upper respiratory infections. The guidance I suggest is that a laboratory range between 50 and 80ng/mL serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D may help to decrease the rate of infection from COVID- 19. If you don’t know your current level…lets test it!

Suggested Dosage: 5,000 IU po qd in the absence of serum levels

Glutathione

Glutathione is a compound involved as a coenzyme in oxidation–reduction reactions in cells. It is a tripeptide derived from glutamic acid, cysteine, and glycine. It is one of the body’s most powerful detoxifiers and supports a healthy immune function by neutralizing a broad spectrum of free radicals. Liposomal glutathione offers rapid and complete uptake, which is why Dr. Ziya prefers it wherever available.

Suggested Dosage: 100mgs /2 pumps daily

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is a micronutrient that is crucial for maintaining vision, promoting growth and development, and protecting epithelium (tissue that line the outer surfaces of organs and blood vessels throughout the body, as well as the inner surfaces of cavities in many internal organs) and mucus integrity in the body. Vitamin A is known as an anti-inflammation vitamin because of its critical role in enhancing immune function. It has demonstrated a therapeutic effect in the treatment of various infectious diseases.

Suggested Dosage: Up to 10,000-25,000 IU/d

Zinc

Zinc slows viral replication within the cell by directly inhibiting two enzymes essential to the replication of SARS-CoV, the coronavirus that causes SARS. Therefore, zinc almost certainly inhibits the enzymes within SARS-CoV-2. Acceptable ratios of zinc to copper range from 2:1 to 15:1 in favor of zinc.

Suggested Dosage: 15mgs daily. Take with food to slow any potential GI upset.

Melatonin

Melatonin has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on viral activity. This has not gone unnoticed by the COVID-19 research community, with two recent published papers proposing the use of melatonin as a therapeutic agent in the treatment of patients with COVID- 19.

Suggested Dosage: 5-20 mg qd.

Omega Fatty Acids – MegaOmega

The gut maintains our immune system but only if it has balance and integrity. The best route to achieve this is a perfect non-toxic diet, but as we know this is not possible. To manage our past digressions with poor choices and toxic loads outside of our choices we must quell the gut and gut lining by primarily choosing healthy fats in our diet. MegaOmega is the most comprehensive, full-spectrum fish oil scientifically formulated to support a healthy gut microbiome. This supplement will buy us time while we up-level our diet and lifestyle.

Suggested Dosage: 1500 mg daily

Curcumin/Turmeric

Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. Dr. Ziya suggests the turmeric shots from Unleash Life  – each shot includes 1.5 ounces of organic turmeric.

Unleash Life Juice, local suppliers in south Florida who deliver weekly to your door in sterile glass bottles, carry the perfect product. (Doctor Ziya is a current customer.) Ingredients are raw and unpasteurized with no added sugar, water, or preservatives. Additionally, very little fruit is blended in to keep natural sugar content low. This is real food!

Suggested Dosage: 1 shot daily

Green Tea

Another real food! In addition to modulating inflammation, green tea is potentially targeting the COVID-19 main protease to reduce viral replication and has also been shown to prevent influenza in healthcare workers.

Suggested Dosage: 4 cups daily. Sip throughout the day.

Resveratrol:

Resveratrol is a polyphenol compound which is found in peanuts, berries, the skin of red grapes, red wine, and in the Japanese knotweed plant, also known as polygonum. Resveratrol research has proven it to be a very potent antioxidant. Evidence also exists that it can reduce inflammation. It also reduces activation of NF kappa B, a protein produced by the body’s immune system when it is under attack.

Suggested Dosage:  200 mgs daily

Quercetin

This has been shown to have antiviral effects against both RNA (e.g., influenza and coronavirus) and DNA viruses (e.g., herpesvirus). Quercetin is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.

Suggested Dosage: 200 mgs daily

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a potent water-soluble antioxidant, and even in small amounts can protect us from damage by free radicals. It is vital to immune function and is an essential factor in many enzymatic reactions in the body. It is truly our most universal antioxidant. Vitamin C contributes to immune defense by supporting various cellular functions. Supplementation with vitamin C appears to be able to both prevent and treat respiratory and systemic infections. Vitamin C has been used in hospital ICUs to treat COVID-19 infection.

Recommended Dosage: 500-1000 mg day

Covid 19 manifestation/positive testing/high risk profiles

If you feel that you may have an active infection, I suggest the following:

Vitamin C IV

This is an intervention for active cases to support the mitigation of the virus and is being used in hospitals currently as an adjunct to therapy. This is available at home!

A prescription is required.

Chinese Herbs (some of which are limited and backordered)

The active ingredient is astralagus (huang qi).

The standard dose of herbal extracts for an average adult is 6 grams per day, usually divided into two or more doses through the day. Take the herbs on an empty stomach 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals. Heat clearing and purgative herbs can be taken with meals should they upset the stomach. Take the herbs at least 2 hours apart from a prescription medication or other supplements. Serve with warm water. (If taking granules, dissolve the granules in warm water and drink like tea. Granules do not dissolve well and may clump up in cold or hot water.) Do not take herbs with juice, coffee, tea, or anything else as they may alter the property of the herbs. Take herbs only with warm water.
